Man suffers ‘potentially critical’ injuries after serious assault in Driffield

Man arrested in connection with the assault and is in police custody

A man has suffered ‘potentially critical’ injuries after a serious assault in Driffield in the early hours of this morning.

The incident took place on Market Place and the individual is currently in hospital and remains in a stable condition.

Humberside Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested in connection with the assault and is still in custody.

The police cordon that was in place this morning has now been lifted and the force has reassured the public that there is no further threat to them.

“A man has been arrested and remains in our custody in connection with a serious assault that took place on Market Place, Driffield in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 30 August),” said a Humberside Police spokesperson.

“One man was taken to hospital and is believed to have sustained potentially critical injuries but remains in a stable condition.

“We want to reassure the public that we believe this to be an isolated incident with no further threat to the public.

“Any witnesses who have not yet spoken with us are asked to contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 28 of 30 August.”
