Tributes to Driffield dad who died in Middleton RTC

A Driffield biker who died in a road traffic collision near Middleton-on-the-Wolds has been described as ‘the best dad ever’ and a doting grandfather.

Dave Lewis lost his life after his grey Yamaha motorcycle collided with a yellow Peugeot car on the A614 between Middleton-on-the-Wolds and Market Weighton at around 4:30pm on Sunday 19th September 2021.

Sadly, the 49-year-old sustained fatal injuries, whilst his partner, who was riding pillion, suffered life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Peugeot sustained serious injuries.

Dave leaves behind two daughters, Jessica and Sarah, as well as four granddaughters and one grandson.

Jessica told the Wolds Weekly: “He was the best dad ever. My dad was so hard working and his family meant everything to him.

“His life revolved around Sarah and I and he doted on his grandchildren. Sarah has two young daughters, whilst I have a three-year-old son and twin girls and he loved them all so much.”

The A614 was closed for several hours between Middleton-on-the-Wolds and the Londesborough roundabout whilst emergency services were on the scene.

Jessica added: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank all emergency services involved and to members of the public for trying to help.

“We would appreciate if our family was given privacy and respect to allow us to grieve.

“The investigation is ongoing and we would like to avoid any speculation.

“If anyone does have any information, please come forward, please call 101 and quote log number 427 of 19th September 2021.”
