Lots planned for Driffield Rec Gala Day

After making a successful return last year following a four-year break, Driffield Town Cricket & Recreation Club’s popular Gala Day will take place this Sunday (30th June).
Hundreds of people will go along to Kings Mill Road, which is home to Driffield’s cricket club, a tennis club and two bowls clubs, for a day of family-friendly attractions, including a dog show which, for the second year running is being sponsored by the Driffield & Wolds Weekly.
Last year, the Gala Day, which was opened by Coronation Street actor and Celebrity Big Brother housemate Colson Smith, raised over £4,000, all of which went towards maintaining the pitches and facilities at the club.
The event will open to the public from 10am and among the attractions confirmed so far are:

10:00am Gala Opens
Inflatables – slide and assault course
Food – Drinks – Ice Cream
10:30am – Flyball Demonstration
Noon – Registration opens for Fun Dog show
12:30pm – Flamborough Longsword Dancers
1:30pm – The Driffield & Wolds Weekly Fun Dog Show
2pm – Karate demonstration
3pm – Dance Group demonstrations
4pm – Sports day – running races etc

The Driffield & Wolds Weekly dog show
The Wolds Weekly dog show, with head judge Debbie Scott, will see owners and their pets register from 12 noon onwards, the classes begin at 1:30pm.
Entry, priced £2 per class, will be taken for the following classes:
- Best puppy (under 12 months)
- Best veteran (eight years or older)
- Best pedigree
- Best crossbreed or rescue
- Best condition
- Prettiest bitch
- Most handsome dog (male)
- Best six legs (dog and handler)
- Waggiest tail
- Best child handler
- Dog most like its owner
- Most appealing eyes
- Best in show and reserve best in show

Refreshments will be served throughout the day and the bar will be open inside the clubhouse.
Admission is £2 for adults and £1 for children.
