Usually a time of browning leaves and with the nights drawing in, Autumn can seem a dull and dreary time. At The Pumpkin Patch at Bewholme however, harvest is just beginning, and it has never looked so colourful.
Established in 2010, the Butler family venture began with just 1000 hand-planted pumpkin plants, the pumpkins then being sold from the farm gate.
The pumpkins were so well received by locals and passers-by, numbers were increased the following year and expansion has continued thereafter.
The Pumpkin Patch are now undertaking their 15th harvest of 12 acres of pumpkins and squashes in all shapes, colours and sizes with over 40 varieties to choose from.
Whether you are looking for the best carving pumpkin or the perfect squash for a warming autumn dish there is something for everyone.

With such a vast number of plants, the Butlers now have the luxury of a two-seater tractor-drawn planting machine with each plant being fed in by hand.
The sowing technique however has changed very little, with every pumpkin seed being hand-sown into a starter pot in mid-April before being planted out in late-May.
This year has proven to be one of the most difficult growing seasons to date, with the cold, wet spring, slugs, and more weeding than you can shake a stick at.
Luckily, there is no shortage of help on the farm, with everyone getting stuck in.
From six-year-old twins to 93-year-old ‘Nanna’ and everyone in between. The Pumpkin Patch is truly a family business.
2016 saw the Butlers host their first Pick Your Own Pumpkin event and, after proving popular, it has become a fixture on the calendar ever since.
With 12 PYO days planned for October, a trip to The Pumpkin Patch is the perfect autumn activity for the young and the young at heart!

PYO events are held half-a-mile from the farm with a host of Autumn activities for the whole family to enjoy.
From pumpkin carving, sunflower picking, treasure hunt and pumpkin games along with the new addition of a Maize Maze and Tractor and Trailer rides for 2024.
If you’d like all the fun of the farm without the mud, why not pop down to the huge farm display and shop to choose from hundreds of pumpkins, squashes and gourds, from the traditional vivid orange to the weird, wonderful, and warty!
Take a moment to pose in front of Pumpkin Mountain for some fabulous autumn photos!
The farm display and shop are open every day 10am-5pm right up to Halloween.
