Willowgreen team raise £2,688 for Driffield skate park
There were tears and laughter as four colleagues from Willowgreen proved the doubters wrong and completed their Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge.
Despite admitting they were not athletic, the team from the estate agents scaled Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough and have raised more than £2,600 for Driffield skate park.
The quartet trekked around 25 miles and climbed 5,200ft on a guided walk, starting at 7.30am on Sunday 3rd July.
After asking for suggestions for a local charity to support, they choose the skate park because they felt it is ‘an absolute asset to Driffield’ and have received several generous donations from local businesses.
Managing director Lisa Tyler said: “Four of us did the walk and other colleagues acted as our support crew.
“We had been going out on Sundays on training walks for about eight weeks, but nothing really prepared us for the day. We had never walked in the rain and the wind and it was raining and windy.
“It was emotional. There were tears and laughter, but we have such a great sense of achievement. It was an incredibly proud moment for us.
“The teamwork on show echoes through to how we are in real life. I still can’t believe we did it. We had our doubters, even the guides thought we wouldn’t get past the first peak.
“But the fact people had sponsored us kept us going. Team work and joining forces helps us to achieve amazing things.”
