Kilham Multi-Terrain 10K Returns with Scenic Route Through the Yorkshire Wolds
Organisers of the popular Kilham Multi-Terrain 10K are looking forward to another family-friendly community event when runners get under starters’ orders this weekend.
The challenging yet stunning 10K will begin and end in Kilham on Sunday 29th September.
Runners will then head off-road up a tree-lined track, the site of David Hockney’s famous ‘Tunnel’ painting, before climbing to the top of the hill which provides breathtaking views of the Yorkshire Wolds.
The route continues across Sheep Rake Lane before travelling through Greenwold vineyard, wildflower and grass meadows running adjacent to the road before rejoining the tarmac road back into Kilham and finishing at the village’s playing fields.
Nicola Knaggs, from Kilham Playing Field Association (KPFA), which organises the event, said the group is looking forward to welcoming runners of all ages and abilities.
She said: “This year we have brought the event forward with the hope we will see some better weather.
“It is a real community event and there is always a fantastic atmosphere in the village on the day.
“We have fantastic support from volunteers who marshal the route for us and there are ample opportunities for spectator viewing.
“We will have music at the playing field, where there is a children’s play area and hopefully the church bells will be ringing to add to the atmosphere.”
The race, which is open to runners aged 15 years or older in line with UKA regulations, is fully marshalled throughout the course with a drinks station at the 5km point.
Nicola confirmed that prizes will once again be handed out for the top three male and female places, as well as age category prizes.
A goodie bag will be handed out to all finishers which will include a £5 voucher for The Old Star, as well as flapjack courtesy of Lilly’s Plumbing and £5 off a sports massage from Harmony Massage Therapy. Entrants can choose between receiving a bespoke medal or sponsoring the planting of a tree on the playing field this winter.
Organisers thanked main sponsor Little Rascals, as well as Beverley Ambulance Service and Andy Hire for their support of the event.
As always, all proceeds from the race will go towards KPFA for amenities for the field.

The event begins at 10am and road closures will be in operation throughout stretches of the road on the route authorised by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s highways team.
