Ozzy Osbourne to join Black Sabbath for one last show in Birmingham
Ozzy Osbourne is set to reunite with his Black Sabbath bandmates for one last time, promising ‘the greatest heavy metal show ever’.
The news was announced by Osbourne’s wife Sharon and Black Sabbath member Tony Iommi at Villa Park in Birmingham, where the gig will take place on Saturday 5th July.
It will be the first time Osbourne, Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward have shared a stage for 20 years.
Other acts to perform during the one-day festival will include Metallica, Slayer, Alice in Chains and a supergroup made up of members of Guns ‘n’ Roses, The Smashing Pumpkins, Limp Bizkit and Rage Against The Machine.
Osbourne, 76, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in recent years, as well as suffering with other health issues. He will play his own set before joining his bandmates.
All profits from the gig will be shared between Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn’s Children’s Hospice.
“It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning, time for me to give back to the place where I was born,” said Osbourne.
“How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”
Tickets will go on sale from 19am on Friday 14th February.
