Summer school holiday events continue at Sewerby Hall and Gardens
Every day throughout the week, the fun and games include Encounters and Adventures with the Rusticus Theatre Arts team, donkey rides (£2 each), magic shows, face painting, circus workshops as well as activities from the council’s sport, play and arts team.
Alongside the ongoing Amy Johnson Festival, the council’s museum team will be launching paper aeroplanes in the Orangery with visitors between 11am and 3pm on Tuesday, 9 August along with some under 5s story telling sessions at 11am, 1pm and 3pm (pre-booking required) on the same day. On Thursday, 11 August there will be a bat walk at 9pm when visitors can find out a bit more about the amazing life of bats during the first ever walk led by Geoff Wilson of the East Yorkshire Bat Group.
For the music-loving visitors, Thursday, 11 August sees a welcome set of faces return in the form of acoustic indie greats, The Nocturnal Flowers, who will be performing at 2pm in the Orangery with the support of Dennis Caruana.
Saturday, 13 August will see steam cars descend on the estate as part of a run out from the Driffield Steam and Vintage Rally. The drivers will be using the site as a pit-stop before continuing on across the county and can be expected at the rear of the house between 10am and 12noon.
Rounding off the week will be a craft fair in the Orangery between 11am and 4pm, hosted by Double R Crafts.
Admission charges are £7 for adults, £4.90 for children and £22 for a family (two adults and two children). There is no additional charge to attend events and activities unless otherwise stated and the cost includes access to the house, the zoo and the gardens.
