Scooter club rallies round to raise £500 for 70th old folk’s tea party

Driffield Midnight Runners scooter club has presented the Driffield old folk’s tea and entertainment committee with a cheque for £500.

The money will be donated towards the annual Christmas tea for the senior citizens of Driffield which will be held on Saturday 5th December.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the annual old folk’s tea.
It began following the war in 1945 as a thank you to those people who watched over the town during the turbulent war years.

The initial event took place in the town hall, but as the number of attendees grew it moved to its current venue of the West Building at Driffield School, off Manorfield Road.
The event is open to anyone who is 70 or over. If you wish to attend please contact committee chairman Les Pinkney
