Driffield Show 2016 – Main Ring & Activity Arena Timetables

The main ring entertainment is always a popular attraction at the Driffield Show with a packed schedule throughout the day.

Many visitors make a beeline for the ring to watch the fantastic displays and presentations provided by the equestrian classes.

The activities kick-off bright and early at around 8:15am with some of the Hunter classes, there is also a very good entry this year of agricultural horses, as well as ridden classes, ponies, private driving and show jumping. This year there will be a farrier demonstration, alongside the heavy horse stabling, to allow visitors to see how the horses’ hooves and shoes are cared for.

Whilst the main ring at the Driffield Show is nationally renowned for the high calibre of equine excellence that it attracts, the Activity Arena is fast on its heels as a favourite with families.

This year the headline act within the Arena will be the Inspire  MTB/BMX  Trials  Team. This actionpacked show incorporates a scaffolding like rig structure consisting of various sized platforms and ladders, the riders demonstrate unbelievable bike control as they leap across huge distances. To compliment these breath taking performances there will also be appearances from the East Riding Engine club stoking up one of their steam engines, and showground friends the Bridlington Birds of Prey and Animal Park with their popular Bird of Prey Show.

A new, and well received, addition last year, The Tailwaggers Club will also be joining in the fun with their squad of enthusiastic handlers and their dogs providing a mixed display of obedience, agility, tricks and musical sequences.

The Beverley Building Society have sponsored the Activity Arena for several years and Cheryl Lynch, Society Manager at the Driffield Showground said: “We are so grateful to the team at the Beverley Building Society for their continued support and we are particularly pleased that they are joining us in this their celebratory 150th anniversary year. “Their support ensures that we are able to build upon the success of the Activity Arena each year and this year we think we have the best lineup ever.”

Ed Davies, Marketing Manager at the Beverley Building Society said: “Beverley Building Society is celebrating its 150th Anniversary this year, and as part of our celebrations we’re proudly supporting the Driffield Show Activity Arena.

“The Driffield Show is a special day in the Society’s calendar, as it is an opportunity to engage with our members, and meet people of the local community.

“This year the team will be handing out our limited edition 150th Anniversary Money Boxes to children and their families, an initiative we’ve been supporting the last couple of years to help encourage the savings habit.
