Sledmere House and the Yorkshire Wolds Railway get set for Vintage Sunday

In association with Sledmere House, Yorkshire Wolds Railway is holding a Vintage Day on Sunday 24th June from 11am to 5pm.

The event is part of the 2018 celebrations commemorating 60 years since the closure of the Malton and Driffield Junction Railway and celebrating 10 years since the renaissance as the Yorkshire Wolds Railway.

Attractions will include cab rides in the locomotive ‘Sir Tatton Sykes’, games such as test your strength and hook a duck, whilst some of the staff will be in period costume.

There will also be a visit from vintage vehicles plus afternoon plays by the Malton Dickens Society about Alfred Dickens, a railway engineer and brother of author Charles Dickens.

A free vintage shuttle bus service will be running throughout the day linking the event at The Yorkshire Wolds Railway with the annual Vintage Fair at Sledmere House which will have lots of  stalls, displays, re-enactment groups, traditional games and the annual NECPWA Car Rally.

The Sledmere Vintage Fair is also great day out for the whole family with displays and re-enactments showing what life was like during the 1940s; Diana our Shire Horse will be out and about showing off her beautiful agricultural cart and meeting visitors and the NECPWA Car Rally will be bringing over 400 vintage cars, motorcycles and caravans for you to look round Refreshments are available all day in Sledmere’s Terrace Café.
