A weekend of canine capers and fun for four-legged friends took place at Driffield Showground.

Dogs Unleashed, described as ‘the ulti-mutt doggy day out’ came to Driffield Showground for the first time, offering visitors and their pooches a weekend of entertainment.

The main ring featured regular displays throughout the weekend, including demonstrations by a gundog team, a heelwork to music performance and terrier racing.

One of the most popular aspects of the weekend were the ‘have a go’ attractions where the public were encouraged not to be just spectators but also participants.

There were agility courses, run by experienced agility handlers and dogs could try flyball, a popular ball sport for pooches; they had chance to take part in an obedience competition and impress the judges in the fun dog show.

The Wet N Wild Zone featured swimming pools for pets to cool off in and experts were on hand to help nervous dogs gain more confidence in the water.

There were also a selection trade stalls, charity stands, grooming demonstrations and dog health checks, as well as a host of children’s rides, inflatables, face painting, live music and a food court.

Organiser Andrew Capille said it had been a fantastic weekend.

He said: “This is the first time we have held Dogs Unleashed at the Driffield Showground and it was a huge success.

“It was really well-attended and there was plenty to see and do across the weekend.

“It was great to bring the event to Driffield and it is our intention to be back again next year and we hope to keep it growing.”
