Sweet shop is on the move

The owners of Sugared Candy sweet shop have confirmed they are moving into a prime high street location as they have taken a long-term lease on the retail unit which was formerly home to Rotherhams.

The Middle Street South location will give owner Ellie Dyson the space she needs to expand her range of sweets, sweet gifts and ice-cream, building on the successful business she has developed over the past two years.

Ellie told the Wolds Weekly: “We are delighted to have secured the lease on the property on Middle Street South.

“Since we first opened two years ago on Mill Street, we have become busier and busier and the new property gives us the space we need build the business and expand our range of sweets and ice cream, as well as to grow our online business.

“It is a great location and it is our long-term plan to stay there.”

Having previously worked at shows and events, Ellie took the brave decision to open her own sweet store in 2020 and thanked the people of Driffield for their support.

She said: “The people of Driffield have been so good to us. We have customers of all ages and many repeat customers and we can’t thank them enough.

“We are hoping to move at the beginning of August, but there is a lot of work to be done.

“Driffield doesn’t have many empty retail units and so when this opportunity came up, we wanted to take it while we could and we are grateful to all the help from Dee & Atkinson. We are excited for this new chapter.”
