PHOTOS: Driffield Charity Tractor Run raises £3,000

Bumper crowds turned out to wave and cheer on the convoy of tractors as they set off on their way to take part in the popular Driffield Charity Tractor Run.

More than 80 tractors took part in the event which was raising funds for First Steps Pre-school and the Fire Fighters Charity.

The tractors gathered at Driffield Fire Station, giving children the opportunity to have a look around before they set out on the run which visited Nafferton, Kilham, Harpham, Kelk, Foston, Wansford, Skerne and Hutton Cranswick, before heading back to Driffield.

Rachel Hodgson, who organised the event, thanked everyone for their support.

She said: “We had 81 tractors take part in the run and we had a cracking day.

“The support we received was unbelievable and we have raised just over £3,000 which is fantastic and if you missed us on Sunday, our JustGiving page is still available on our Driffield Charity Tractor Run Facebook page.”

Rachel first got the idea of holding a tractor run from her father Les Watson, who organised a tractor run in Leven for several years and who led the convoy on Sunday.

Enjoying watching the tractors were cousins Reuben Wain and Reggie Gibson. Two-year-old Reggie attends First Steps pre-school and said he especially liked the red tractors.

Five-year-old Frankie Taylor said: “I love tractors and I would like to drive one when I’m older. I’ve sat in the fire engine today which was really exciting.”

Driffield Junior School pupil George Carrick, said: “It’s amazing seeing all the tractors here, I will be waving them off when they all leave.”

Rachel added her thanks to all of the supporters of the tractor run including sponsors Onlookers Opticians, Alec WG Hall, NFU Mutual, Rose Cottage Butchers, Primepak Foods, Fab Medics and Great Driffield Radio for their support.

She added: “We couldn’t make this event the success it is without the support of local businesses, friends, family and of course the fantastic generosity of the public.”
