Dealership set to breathe new life into Broach Hill Garage site

Livingstone Motor Group is breathing new life into the former Broach Hill Garage in Hutton Cranswick after the company announced it is bringing its car dealership to the site.

A refurbishment programme is now underway with an official opening expected in January 2024.

Livingstone Motor Group, formerly known as Hull Mitsubishi, has had an award-winning dealership at Hessle for the past 30 years.

As part of its expansion plans, Livingstone will transform the site at Hutton Cranswick into three areas offering a dedicated pickup truck showroom, a showroom for new cars and a wide selection of used vehicles.

The site will also offer service and MOTs.

The new dealership will create 15 new jobs with advertisements expected in the coming weeks.

Managing director of Livingstone Motor Group Andrew Iveson said the size, location and heritage of the site made it an ideal location for the business.

He said: “This is a really exciting development for us, and we are really looking forward to breathing new life into the former Broach Hill Garage and becoming a part of the local community.”

Livingstone Motor Group has the franchise for selling new Isuzu, SsangYong and Subaru vehicles and, after being a successful Mitsubishi dealer since 1991, when the company announced it was stopping sales of new cars in the UK, Livingstone pledged to continue its support to Mitsubishi customers.

Andrew said: “We will have a new pickup, a range of new cars, as well as used cars and commercials here in Hutton Cranswick, so there will be an offering for everybody.

“We will also have aftercare servicing and MOTs, but there will not be a body shop and we will not be selling fuel.

“We were planning to expand our dealership and had been actively looking for sites. We needed a site that could hold a volume of cars and the former Broach Hill site had the size, location and heritage we were looking for.

“We pride ourselves on our professional, but friendly customer service and as a dealership we have won a lot of awards, and we want to replicate that success here.

“We really want to be a part of the local community and we have received a warm welcome from those who we have met so far.

“We are currently undertaking a programme of refurbishment at the site, and it is very important to us that where possible we use local traders, contractors and businesses to do the work.

“We will be creating 15 new jobs at the site and the advertisements for roles such as sales, receptionists and mechanics will be going out shortly.

“We have a good reputation as a company who cares for its people, and we look forward to making a positive impact in the local area.

“This is the most exciting expansion for the company so far and we want to make this site back into a hub where people want to come to buy their cars from.”

Broach Hill Garage closed last August with all 30 employees being made redundant after administrators were called in following a number of issues including the cost-of-living crisis, supply chain issues and COVID-19.

It had operated as a franchised car dealership (MG and SsangYong), service centre and vehicle body shop and had been trading as a family business for almost 50 years.
