On Guy Fawkes Night itself, Driffield Showground in Kelleythorpe will host the Driffield Fireworks Spectacular. This professional display is organized by Sky Magic Events, with a traditional funfair and rides for children. Singer James Lomas will perform a medley of hits, whilst the Beverley & District Pipe Band will deliver a traditional set. A food village will sell refreshments, whilst VIP parking spaces are available.

North Frodingham Landing

A new Bonfire Night celebration with a difference will be held at a historic area of Driffield Canal on Sunday, 5th November. All are welcome to the free event being organised by the Driffield Navigation Trust at Frodingham Landing, which is part of the waterways network.

Paddleboarders will join a flotilla of illuminated boats, arriving at the landing to commence the November 5th Celebration at 5pm. The special event will feature fireworks, a fire pit, boat rides, live music from the three-piece band “The Sonics,” a street entertainer, bar, and barbecue.

“One of the highlights of the evening will be the arrival of the illuminated boats in the dark,” said Christian Jordan, a new canal trustee.

“Paddleboarders who launch from Frodingham Landing have indicated they want to join the flotilla and will be illuminating their paddleboards. The event aims to attract a larger audience for the canal, creating a real party atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.”

Boat owners are invited to join the flotilla of illuminated craft at Frodingham Beck Junction at 4:30 pm to cruise to the landing for the 5 pm start. Prizes will be awarded for the best-lit boats.

Although it is a free event, attendees will be asked to donate to the Trust, which works to maintain and improve the historic 11-mile navigation. Driffield Navigation Trust is a registered charity and relies on fundraising, grants, and donations for ongoing efforts to make the canal fully navigable again.

Frodingham Landing is located on the B1249 road just outside North Frodingham, YO25 8JR.
