Motorcyclist Killed in Fatal Collision on B1248 – Police Appeal for Witnesses

An 82-year-old man has tragically died following a collision near Wharram le Street earlier today. The crash, which involved a blue Honda motorcycle and a blue Volkswagen Tiguan SUV, occurred at around 11.42am on the B1248, close to the junction with Station Road.

Emergency services responded swiftly, but despite their efforts, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers.

The driver of the Tiguan, a man in his 60s, is cooperating with North Yorkshire Police as part of the investigation. He was transported to hospital by ambulance for medical treatment.

The road remained closed for several hours to allow collision investigators to examine the scene and recover the vehicles. It reopened just after 9pm following the clearance of debris by the highways team.

Police are now urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant dashcam footage to come forward. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw either vehicle in the moments leading up to the crash.
