Join the fun at Driffield Navigation Gala this Sunday

Canal enthusiasts are being invited to the historic Driffield Navigation to join in the fun and games of an event to celebrate the waterway.
Live music, boat trips, and a duck race, will be just part of the one-day Driffield Navigation Gala at Riverhead on Sunday (29th June) from, 11am to 7:30pm.
The free family fun day is being organised by the Driffield Navigation Trust to raise funds for the restoration and upkeep of the picturesque 250-year-old canal
Mike Artley, trust chairman, said: “A warm welcome is extended to everyone to come along and enjoy a day out at the gala, which is a major fundraiser for the trust.
“We are looking forward to this year’s event, and we are hoping as many people as possible will visit us and enjoy the music and fun and games in a beautiful setting.

“The trust appreciates the public support we get in helping to maintain and improve the canal, and there is a lot of enthusiasm for the work that we are doing.”

Driffield Town Council is supporting the gala which will be officially opened by the Mayor of Driffield, Councillor Fred Smith, who will also launch the popular duck race at 4pm.

Live music will be provided by Kenny J, The One & Only Elvis Presley, Charlene, a Diana Ross tribute act, and rock ‘n’ roll band, The Sonics.

Other entertainment will include a market with craft stalls, the usual water-based activities, such as boat trips to Town Lock and back and pedalos, a duck race with cash and other prizes, and family entertainment including a bouncy castle.
The gala will also include refreshments starting at 11am with a licensed bar, all-day barbecue, tea and coffee stall, and an ice cream stall.
Driffield Navigation Trust is a charity that relies on fundraising and donations, and every penny it makes at the gala will be spent on maintenance and improvements so future generations can enjoy the beautiful waterway.
