WATER COMPANIES SEEK HIGHER BILL INCREASES THAN FIRST INDICATED

Water companies in England are asking for bills to rise higher than first requested. One company, Southern Water, is seeking a rise of 84%.

Just one water company in England and Wales is not looking to charge more for water bills than initially requested in July.

A final decision will be made by Ofwat, the water regulator, on 19th December. The interim decision in July was that the average bill was allowed to rise by 21% per year.

On average, companies would like to see bills rise 40% and cost £615 per year by 2030. The current average bill is £439 per year.
