Road improvement scheme to begin in Howden next week
A road improvement scheme is due to begin next week in Howden. East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to invest £135,000 to upgrade a section of the B1230 Selby Road.
The project, between the junction with the A63 Barnhill Lane and Duck Swing Bridge just before the town, is scheduled to start on Monday 20th January and take four weeks to complete.
Work will start with the installation of new kerbing on the road, which will be carried out under traffic signals.
The road will then be resurfaced over two weeks, which is due to begin on Monday 3rd February. To prevent disruption to traffic and ensure the safety of the workforce, there will be temporary road closure, weather permitting.
The closure will only be in place during daytime working hours, the road will reopen after 5pm. During the temporary daytime closure, a signed diversion will be in place for through-traffic via A63 Barnhill Lane, A63 Boothferry Road, A63 Knedlington Road, A614 Boothferry Road, B1230 Hull Road, B1230 Flatgate, B1230 Bridgegate and B1230 Northolmby Street.
The work will be carried out by the council’s own road maintenance team as part of a programme of planned improvements.
