Suspected WW2 Bomb Sparks Emergency Response in Flaxton

A suspected Second World War bomb has triggered a major emergency response in the village of Flaxton, near Malton.

North Yorkshire Police confirmed that a 100-metre safety cordon has been set up around a property on Main Street after the device was discovered in an outbuilding undergoing renovation. The alarm was raised at 11:13am on Tuesday morning.

The Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team is en route to assess the device and make it safe.

As a precaution, several nearby roads have been temporarily closed, including York Lane, Bull Moor Lane, Rice Lane, Scotsman Road, and Lords Moor Lane. Local residents affected by the evacuation have been directed to the village hall, which has been opened to provide support and shelter.

Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area while the incident is ongoing.
