2 arrests following spate of distraction burglaries in the East Riding.

Police appeal for further victims to come forward

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of being involved in a string of distraction burglaries targeting elderly residents in the East Riding.

Humberside Police  appealing for anyone else who believes they or a loved one may have been targeted to come forward.

Detectives are investigating six similar incidents in Hedon, Willerby and North Ferriby.

In each case, a man is said to have knocked on the door of an elderly resident and persuaded them to come out of the house under the pretence of spotting a fire or an intruder in the rear garden.

An accomplice has then gone into the house and stolen cash.

A 48-year-old man and a 33-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of burglary.
