Experience the magic of Sledmere this Christmas!

The countdown to Christmas is on at Sledmere House with a range of events set to take place in the run-up to the festive season, one of the busiest periods of the year at the stately home.

From tomorrow (Friday 6th December 2019) Sledmere House will host it’s 15th annual Christmas Craft and Food Fair from 9:30am-4pm – the event runs until Sunday 8th December,

Over 100 stalls showcasing produce from around Yorkshire will be available to browse, whilst there will be carol singing from Sledmere Primary, the Driffield Male Voice Choir and the East Riding of Yorkshire Band.

Entry is £4.50 for adults and £1.50 for children, with Sledmere Friends able to enter free of charge on the Friday.

Sledmere Festival of Christmas

Santa’s Magical Grotto will be available to visit on Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December and the weekends of 7th/8th, 14th/15th and 21st/22nd December thereafter, with some exciting changes at the Sledmere grotto for 2019.

The grotto has moved to the Home Farm buildings and booking can now be made online up to an hour before each session starts.

Enter Santa’s Magical Grotto

Small groups will be able to explore the grotto, take part in fun and games with the elves and tell Santa what’s on their wish list.

If Santa believes you’ve been good throughout the year, access will be granted to the Elves VIP Toy Store to choose a gift.

Grotto tickets will allow free access into the grounds and gardens, the Rare Breeds Farm Park, Adventure Play Area and a festive ride on a tractor and trailer to see Sledmere’s herd of red deer.

The groups will consist of no more than 10 children and two adult places are available per child, with extra able to purchase on the day at the registration desk if group numbers allow.

Ticket prices are £10.50 for children and £4 for adults and can be booked by visiting www.sledmerehouse.com.


On Tuesday 10th December, from 10:30am-1pm, a Christmas Gift Wrapping Workshop will be held in The Orangery at Sledmere House.

This is a hands-on workshop which promises to give your presents the ‘wow factor’. All materials are provided and creations can be taken away.

Tea, coffee and mince pies will be served and entry is £25. Tickets are limited and must be purchased online.

Sledmere House at Christmas

The pre-Christmas workshops at Sledmere House will conclude with a Christmas Wreath Making on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th December from 1:30pm-4pm.

This will be led by Head Gardener, Andy Karavics, with all materials provided. Refreshments will be served. The cost is £25 per person.
